chido/chevere/coolwith Jose Galvan
Jose Galvan started DJ-ing in 2008, when his job as an On-Air personality at the now defunct Indie 103.1fm demanded it. He had produced The Crystal Method's weekly radio show, Community Service for 2 years, and with their guidance and some of their gear on loan, he took to the 1's & 2's one Cinco de Mayo.
Mixing is only the newest chapter in his lifelong addiction to music. He began his college radio experience as an undergrad at USC's student run radio station, fulfilling the roles of Latin Music Director & Programming Director for the on campus organization. Shortly after graduating from USC, Jose quickly immersed himself in commercial radio, working his way up the Promo Team ranks at 107.1fm Superestrella & Indie 103.1. Ultimately becoming the Producer of the Morning show for Indie103.1 and being a weekend On-Air fill-in. He rounded out his commercial radio stint as Executive Producer of Syndication for The Kevin & Bean Show on KROQ and 13 affiliate markets.
Jose has also travelled the world as a Tour Manager for Carla Morrison and DJ Z-Trip. The latter giving him the hands-on experience to see some of the world's biggest DJs in action up close and personal. His base in music theory, his stretch with Z-Trip, and the fact that he constantly listens to so much new music, has helped him rapidly grow as a DJ, music selector, and music programmer.
He’s held down lengthy residencies at downtown LA bars like Cana Rum Bar, Las Perlas & R-bar, and has made the rounds on the Westside with the likes of Bar Lubitsch, The Pikey, Circle Bar, Parlour Room, and The Standard WeHo.
Jose has also DJd events for clients like Pepsi, The LA Times, Red Bull, and Sunset Junction. In 2017, he was asked to open the Sonora Tent for Weekend 2 of the Coachella Music and Arts Festival.
His most current radio stretch came in 2011 where he began blogging for KCRW's music blog by creating the Musica Indie focused feature called Pan Caliente. Based off the success of the feature, he was promoted to On-Air DJ where he held down a weekly radio program for the last 8.5 years on 89.9fm KCRW.
Jose Galvan now joins the Bilingual Sounds HD3 team excited for a new chapter of promoting great music that is as diverse in sounds as it is in language. He will host a weekly show called chido/chevere/cool on Mondays & Tuesdays from 2p-4p.
Jose lives for music, and has been known to take requests.
